I love Dan LeBatard in all forms of love except maybe erotic. (Though reading this gave my soul a spiritual hard-on, a full-bloom rager, thick and veiny). The Dan LeBatard Show is my favorite show since maybe 30 Rock. Tina Fey I think coined the phrase “I want to go to there” and I’m at my happiest when I am with Dan and the Shipping Container. I used to love ESPN the same way. In the early/mid ‘90s I so wanted to go to there, I wrote a letter to the President of ESPN and begged him to let me come work for them. And he did. To say my timing was great is an understatement. My job was to make ESPN’s ads. It was the greatest job possible.

Dan’s show, and the shows that he has spawned, are miracles. I know I risk sounding foolish and a bit crazy when I say this, but I really do feel the presence of God there. Thank you, Fatface. From the bottom of my cholesterol clogged heart. You are doing God’s work. If I want to see Art Briles, I don’t have to wait for the afterlife. Hell is here now. But Dan helps us get the hell out of here day after day after day. May you live long and prosper you wonderful gasbag. Peace be with you.

Maybe the best column I have read in the last 10 years. Just amazing. Dead on.

What a garbage article.

Dan and his 2 minions just ambushed Michelle Tafoya on the podcast. Dan is a coward who possesses zero courage…he simply goes with the whole crowd.

Dan is an embarrassment to journalism.

Dan you were my favorite podcast for a long time. Listened daily for years up until recently. Your show was an escape, but it isn't any more. You all are still really funny and I get a crack out of many of the segments, but I just find it harder to listen to much of the show. I have other podcasts for that. Obviously you are free to take your show in any direction you want, but I'm sad to see it is going this way. It seems to me all the political and cultural discussion on the show lacks nuance, is hyperbolic, and the opinions are just so predictable (I'm not suggesting you bring on conservative crazies, but just ANY other voices would be nice if you are going to do this). Just two thoughts about the writing here:

"In this regard, in limiting a woman's reproductive freedom, The Land Of The Free is now Russia, Iran, North Korea. We are our enemies. We are THE enemy."

This is hyperbolic. Many US states were (and will continue to be) less restrictive on abortion than most of Europe and the developed world. The Mississippi law that was challenged has similar restrictions to most of Europe (though there are some legal nuances there).

"Congratulations, America. The fetus is now safer in the womb than it is five years later, when it can be sent off to school and slaughtered."

This is just a totally absurd sentence. What about the numbers lets you say this? It sure is a zinger, but come on Dan.

A wonderful and powerful essay. I've always admired your writing style: imagery, juxtaposition, and a perspective only skewed by the tilted axis of the globe society has constructed for us to live on. Especially poignant is the idea that "Fatigue is part of the game plan" - and like Michael J. Fox playing basketball without his werewolf alter ego, we win not by fighting against our opponents but rather against our own fatigue. (Add that to your Teenwolf insights, Amin). Thank you for reminding me and others that words matter and that endurance matters. May those who wish to fatigue us, themselves be fatigued by our endurance. Bless you Fat-Angel!

Politician is it's own class (and a ruling one at that) such as lower, middle, upper. They have already achieved the subversion/oppression of the people with their propaganda machine, the television. It starts with the idea that being born in America entitles you to citizenship (entitlement is a large part of the problem). It is a smokescreen. There must be a mandatory civic duty action to retain your citizenship after you achieve adulthood. This doesn't mean people must join the military as there are several other civic institutions that may be learned. People must be taught civic duty because most shy from it. Ignorance is bliss and they are banking on it.

Dan, you nailed it! As an older white male living in rural Hawaii the last 40+ years I have managed to be an observer rather than a participant in the conservative takeover. As I read your piece, each line brought out more emotions. It is truly amazing that the majority of Americans are being held captive by a group of conservative politicians. Politricks has become more and more like a bad, disgusting joke that only perverts find amusing. I haven't watched national news in over 2 years. Local news is bad enough, and what I see on line is unbelievable. Your take on the whites not wanting to be treated the way minorities are treated is brilliant! I wake up to your awesome podcast and it starts my day with a vital laugh. Thanks for the email. It made my day! Aloha

I'm so very, very glad you guys left ESPN. Love that this can be said without anyone being suspended. This is the truth, plain and simple. We can only hope and pray that more people come to realize this before November. There is a way out but only if blue wins. Keep getting on that soapbox because we need to hear it - everyone needs to hear it.
